St. Gerard Majella Parish, Los Angeles, California, is under the care of the Italian religious community Mary, Star of Evangelization.
Like the divine child in Mary’s womb, the community is totally entrusted and abandoned to Mary, doing everything like her and in her. As brothers and sisters in Jesus, aiming to become one heart and one soul with Him, the community feel especially drawn to the protection of the unborn as they are the ones that most resemble Our Lord Jesus.
Therefore, with Our Blessed Mother, and under the patronage of St. Gerard Majella, our Parish comes to the defense of the unborn and the protection of mothers and families in need.
Our patron saint was given the title of the Patron of Expectant Mothers because of his first and most known miracle. Placing the saint’s handkerchief on the wombs of expecting mothers saved many from life-threatening complications while giving birth. For this reason, St. Gerard is considered one of the greatest warriors for life, especially for mothers and children.
Through the intercession of our patron saint and our Blessed Mother, St. Gerard Majella Parish wants to foster a new awareness of the beauty and sacredness of human life, to expose the reality of abortion, to bring help to mothers and families in need, to pray for an end to abortion and to save lives.
