2000 Hail Mary

  History
  The devotion was first introduced by Monsignor Juan Riu Farran from the Philippines.
  
  In March of 1933, when Monsignor was 15 years old, his co-seminarian mentioned to him that he had heard of a powerful devotion that promised to grant any request from the Virgin Mary to those who would pray 2000 Hail Marys. These words remained in his mind forever and since then every March 25, which is the Feast of the Annunciation, he would recite the 2000 Hail Marys with great devotion.
  
  He asked our Blessed Mother for three favors:
  
  To become a Salesian
  
  To become a priest
  
  To become a missionary
  
  Then he waited with great hope.
  
  On June 27, 1935, he made his vows as a Salesian. Then, on June 15, 1946, he was ordained a priest in Madrid, Spain. Finally, on August 13, 1952, he was sent as a missionary to San Juan, Puerto Rico in the poorest slums.
  
  During his life, he promoted this devotion and saw many miracles.
  
  Schedule of the Devotion at St. Gerard Majella Church
  
  This private devotion is prayed in the Church as follows:
  
  On the first Friday of the month
  
  At 10:00 PM, the group begins the prayers, which generally last about eight hours and end on the First Saturday at 7:00 AM
  
  The group prays 2000 Hail Marys
